The Challenge
DeltaTek’s CEO, Tris, came to me with a clear objective: improve DeltaTek’s digital positioning and make it easier for potential collaborators, prospects, and investors to grasp the value of their incredible well construction technologies.
While the UK market was relatively well-covered, the next phase was breaking into the US and establishing a footprint. There was also an underlying ambition to be positioned attractively for potential acquisition – something not openly stated at the time, but always in the background. Internally, the business lacked both marketing expertise and the time to give this the focus it deserved. Tris also wanted help promoting event appearances and telling the DeltaTek story in a way that was both technically accurate and easy for a broader audience to understand.
In short: they needed a strategy that would translate complex technology into digestible messaging, support growth across key markets, and strengthen the brand across digital channels.

What we Did
To tackle these challenges, we built a layered strategy rooted in content, brand presence, and positioning. The focus was always on delivering consistent output with minimal internal input from the busy DeltaTek team.
Social Media Management
We designed a content strategy that balanced deep technical insights with lighter, human content – highlighting both the innovation and the people behind it. The tone was key: technical enough for industry peers but accessible enough for partners, investors, and new prospects. In addition to regular content, I helped produce case studies, event materials and presentation assets that clearly demonstrated the benefits of DeltaTek’s technology in a digestible format.
Photography
Each quarter, I visited DeltaTek’s HQ to capture professional photography showcasing their technology, team, and operations. These images became central to all content output – social media, presentations, the website, and printed materials. It created consistency and credibility across channels.

Strategy
Alongside Tris and another specialist in oil and gas marketing, we developed a broader strategy aimed at driving new business and elevating DeltaTek’s visibility in both the UK and US markets.
Social First Video
We produced a range of quick, authentic videos to explain core aspects of the business. These weren’t overly edited – just clear, straight-talking clips designed to explain complex subjects in a simple, engaging way. By keeping production light, we were able to produce more and maintain a consistent video presence online.

After 18 months of working together, DeltaTek was successfully acquired by Expro. While the strength of the technology was central to that success, I’m proud that our work played a part in positioning the business for that next step. From building digital credibility to supporting market expansion and increasing visibility with key stakeholders, the marketing efforts clearly made an impact.
Tris later shared that the marketing support had been a key contributor to the outcome. That’s something I take real pride in. Following the acquisition, Tris has continued with Expro, helping bring DeltaTek’s pioneering technology to even more operators worldwide.
